About

Welcome to RPG Alchemy!

We help gamers get more out of gaming.

Every human on earth loves to play some sort of game. Tabletop roleplayers, board gamers, and card gamers are some of the most passionate gamers on the planet. But even the most passionate gamers can have problems that can include: uninspiring game play, frustrating group dynamics, inability to connect with other gamers, lack of knowledge of what games are out there, and so much more.

These problems can cause gamers to become bored with the hobby, cause their gaming group to be stuck in a gaming funk, or even lead their gaming groups to break up (and in the worst scenarios, friendships to break up).

But RPG Alchemy is here to save the day!

Our mission is to help gamers get more out of gaming. Whether you are a game master, roleplayer, board gamer, card gamer, or any type of tabletop player, we can help. We do that by providing quality blog articles on how to become better tabletop gamers. We provide connections to other inspiring resources that are available for gamers. We review the latest and greatest products in the industry both from industry giants and small indie companies, so gamers know what is out there and available to them. And we are working to build a hub to connect gamers around the world, so they can meet other gamers that are passionate about the same things they are.

We help gamers have more fun at their game table!

John Lewis
Author
John has been roleplaying since recieving Dungeons & Dragons 1st Edition as a gift in the early 80’s. Currently, he’s a huge fan of Dungeon World, Numenera, Through the Breach (Malifaux), and Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. He is also a big fan of games from Fantasy Flight Games due to their first class presentation, reliable release schedules, and excellent customer service. John has always prefered game mastering over playing, due to his love of world-building, love for reacting to how players play the game, and the enjoyment he gets out of improving as a game master. If he had a gaming specialty, it would be coming up with complex and interesting plot-arcs that are tied to the PCs on the fly, with little or no prep. He regularly attends DunDraCon and KublaCon and this year he’ll be speaking on a variety of RPG panels at RageCon in Reno, Nevada.

Samuel Van Der Wall
Technical Administrator, Author
Sam has been roleplaying since he first encountered Battletech 1st Edition. It was initially the tactical play that drew him in, but eventually he expanded into the roleplaying game portion and it was a done deal from there. His favorite game is Shadowrun, but he’s also a huge fan of Dungeons & Dragons, Dungeon World, Numenera, Star Wars, Warhammer, and many other roleplaying games. He’s a huge fan of Fantasy Flight Games and numerous other gaming companies and publishers. He prefers playing over game mastering. He likes creating one character, building on that character, integrating it into the story, and seeing how it develops over a campaign. He’s not afraid of character death because it’s often memorable and builds the story! If he had a specialty, it would be that he’s really into helping other players draw out storylines in their own characters and further their own goals. He’s never had the privilege of attending a gaming related convention, but hopes to attend two next year.
