As a player I can imagine thinking, “Man, if hobgoblins were that tough, what are we going to have to deal with in the next tier?”

What would happen if it was a “low-level” monster you typically run into the first or second session of a campaign? That chance encounter early on IS the start of your campaign’s story line…
